To pair your car and phone: Start your BMW as normal. Within two minutes of starting your car, go to the Bluetooth menu of your phone and search for nearby devices. After trying this twice, I re-booted the iDrive (pushed radio volume button for about 30 seconds until it shutdown). When the iDrive re-booted, everything worked. All of the other voice command functions work well, i.e. requests for: online search, navigation addresses, contacts, etc. BUT the dictation function to create the messages for texting and emails. It is intermittant, but does not work about one in three times. If they are new aka "blank" TMPS sensors that have never been used and are "universal" (for multiple applications)they may need to be "programmed" or in a sense"awakened" and programmed/initialized for their specific application (first use). I took my wagon to the dealership and the verdict was that the main radio/CD/DVD unit is bad. To replace this, it will be $1500.00, if I give the core (old radio) back. If I want the old unit back, it will cost a total of $2000.0. So it seems that BMW cars manufactured after Sept 2007 with iDrive work. Cars with bluetooth and no iDrive work. Cars pre Sept 2007 with iDrive regardless of iDrive / BT SW version do not work. I apologise if I am incorrect, hence a summary would be useful.
